Resort by Bleu: The Spirit of the Seventies
Jan 19th 2017
The resort collections have begun to arrive at Bleu and we could not be more excited for the bright colors and effortless silhouettes that will usher in spring! We picked some of our most special pieces for a 70s inspired shoot with photographer Patrick Park and model Rena Asaccacio in LA's Griffith Park.
Ruffles are absolutely everything for spring - we love the way they create their own layer of movement on the gorgeous Cinq A Sept Sydney Dress, while the cutouts and body hugging fit keep it sexy and modern. Style it unexpectedly by pairing the elegant dress with a sneaker; this can dress the look down for day or edge it up for a night out.
Nothing says 70s fashion like a wide leg jumpsuit, and the chambray Alice + Olivia Casey Jumpsuit is the perfect all-in-one outfit to look effortlessly stylish for any occasion. We paired it with a vintage scarf tied as a choker to keep it 2017, and we love the way it looks with an oversized pair of sunnies.
Following in line with what seems to be the 2000s revival, asymmetrical sleeves are back and we are so ready to embrace the trend! The Michelle Mason Asymmetric Bandeau Jumpsuit keeps it current by combining a one shoulder design on top with a cutout at the waist and a culotte pant. There is a lot of fashion happening in this piece and we're feeling it.
The shoulder is still the focus with the Delfi Maria Top due to its off-the-shoulder design, and the texture-on-texture effect of its pleats combined with the plissé fabric of the Bec & Bridge Lattice Shadow Pant creates dimension. The trick to pulling off mixed textures is to make sure one is noticeably smaller than the other, but like with mixing prints, that they reside in the same family.
